Parental Style and Children Behavior


Parenting style is Child rearing behavior (of parents, guardians, or other primary caregivers) involving the amount of control over a child's activities and behavior and the degree of nurturance of the children.
Children behavior is any observable response or action of a child from 24 months through 12 years of age. For neonates or children younger than 24 months, infant behavior is available.
Parents want their children grow up to be a person that “adult” in social. Maybe the will get frustrated to find the best way to raise their children. The developmantalist have been search any parenting method that can be increase the social competention development of children. At 1930, John Watson argues that parents give too much affection to their children. At 1950, the Developmentalist made difference between physical discipline and psychological discipline, especially at the cognitive is a better way to bring up the children.
Diana Baumrind (1971) said that parents should not punish, but parents have to developing rule for children and give affection to them. According to her, she divides the parenting style to 3 types: Authoritarian, Authoritative, and Permissive.
At this age, developmentalist argues that permissive parenting divide to two parts: Permissive indulgent and permissive indifferent.
